Jersey Fresh – Barossa Valley

On the Western Ridge of the Barossa Valley lives a hard-working herd of Jersey cows producing sweet, creamy milk. The Carcoola Jersey Stud has been operating for over 40 years, but it was only in 2004 that the Kernich family began to bottle their milk and cream and distribute it under the Jersey Fresh label. Operating with the belief that dairy products should be simple and honest, Jersey Fresh milk is not homogenised, so all the sweet cream settles to the top of the bottle. Shake it before you drink it!

Healthy paddocks grow winter crops using sustainable farming methods, making the most of natural rainfall and removing the need to irrigate pastures. The herd is fed on a consistent diet of hay, silage, grain and pellets and graze on fresh pasture during spring. Herd health is crucial for our cows to make great milk and nutrition plays a big part in that.

Our beautiful Jersey cows are the champions of our operation. Jerseys are a breed of dairy cows known for their milk high in butterfat and protein. Our girls are the heart and soul of everything that we do, they are all named under the Carcoola Jerseys stud prefix and we can trace their lineage back to the 5 original Jerseys purchased to begin the stud in 1976.
